Why Skydiving is Amazing

Why Skydiving is Amazing

Published: September 28, 2016

Skydiving is an amazing experience, whether it's your first time or you've done thousands.

Here at Ozarks Skydive Center, we welcome thousands of skydivers to make their first ever jump or to skydive as a hobby. Here are a few of the reasons we think skydiving is amazing.

The Rush Of The Jump

The rush of skydiving is like a drug. It's addictive and after you've done it once, you'll want to do it again and again!

It's a scientific fact that the adrenaline rush you get when you jump from an aircraft pumps dopamine and serotonin around your system. These are the hormones that make you feel happy, which is why skydivers get a feeling of ecstasy when they jump.

The buzz you feel when you skydive is unlike any other.

Empowerment Through Skydiving

Skydiving isn't a normal thing to do. There aren't too many people who can say they've tried it and for the majority of people you speak to, the fear of jumping from an aircraft is enough to put them off.

When you choose to skydive, you're making a decision that goes against the norm. You're choosing to do something different, something exciting. Yes, it's a bit scary. And yes, it's definitely not your usual activity. But that's what makes it so special.

Once you've done your skydive, you'll know you've experienced something extraordinary. That's incredibly empowering. You'll be instilled with the feeling of pride and the knowledge that you can do things that might seem difficult.

It also puts things into a new perspective. Small worries or concerns seem trivial when you think back to that moment in the door of the aircraft when you chose to jump out.

A Community Unlike Any Other

One of the greatest things about skydiving is the community that surrounds it.

Skydivers are amazing people. They're friendly, they're honest and they share a passion for something that's so strong, it bonds them together for life.

We all come from very different backgrounds, but skydiving is a sport that eliminates differences. No matter what you do in your day-to-day life, you can relax and be yourself completely when you're on the drop zone. No worries, just living in the moment with people you care about and who care about you.

It's not just about getting to know people you spend lots of time with, either. Skydiving is a global community which means that even if you're jumping at a brand new drop zone, you know you'll be welcomed and have a fantastic time with the people there.

A Rewarding Sport

Skydiving isn't simply falling from an airplane. There's so much more to it, and that's why so many people here in the US choose to take it up as a hobby.

There are lots of disciplines within skydiving that make it really varied. Depending on the discipline in which you're taking part, you'll hone your skills to fly belly to earth, in a standing position, head down and lots more. You can focus more on your parachute ride and learn new skills like 'swooping' or canopy formations which involve flying closely to other people and 'docking' on their parachutes.

Given all the skills there are to master, there's a great deal of training and learning to be done within skydiving. There are various qualifications you can achieve as you progress, giving you something tangible and exciting to aim for.

This makes skydiving an extremely rewarding endeavor. You train, you practice and you get better. You'll see your progression clearly in the new qualifications you achieve as well as the new skills you can display. There are even competitions for you to take part in which could take you all over the world.
